Our Mission
1. To provide
experiential and theoretical training in spiritual
mentoring, drawing on the diverse strengths of the
world's wisdom traditions, and
2. To provide a
community of learning, inquiry and practice that
supports the student's own spiritual growth as well as
development of the skills necessary to guide others on
their journey.
Our Vision
A healed world in
which human beings are connected to the Source of their
Being, and act with wisdom and compassion toward
themselves and others as guided by that Source.
The Method
of IMTP: A Community of Inquiry
The curriculum of our
school is devised as a heuristic process of discovery
that is driven not by answers, but by deep questions
that we will dwell in together. In this sense it is an
open, rather than closed, form of education: open to the
truth that can reveal itself directly from authentic
inquiry.
While lectures,
readings, papers and spiritual practices are important
aspects of the program, they are imbedded in the larger
context of inquiry processes that will take place not
only during the two on-site sessions annually, but
during the intervening months both online and via
telephone in small groups.
This is a method of
teaching that encourages learners to discover solutions
for themselves. The methods will include independent
study and reading in preparation for time together;
Socratic seminars; small group processes, time for
personal reflection; and various other inquiry practices
that foster curiosity, creativity and Presence.
